BOSCO supports vulnerable children aged 6–12 in Bengaluru who are separated from their families due to abuse, neglect, migration, child labour and other difficult circumstances.
Across Bengaluru, numerous children of age group 6 to 12 are living away from their families and support systems. They come from different parts of India and have reached the city due to circumstances such as family separation, abuse and neglect, child labour, harassment, substance abuse within the family, migration, and other difficult situations.
Our on-ground partner, BOSCO, works closely with these vulnerable children by rescuing them, providing care and support based on their individual needs, and facilitating their placement in appropriate residential centres. The organisation also coordinates with key referral pathways, including the Police, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), government departments, and other stakeholders, to ensure that children receive the protection and support they need.
BOSCO Mane: Creating a Path Back to Normal Life
One such residential centre is BOSCO Mane, which provides a safe and supportive environment for children who have experienced difficult circumstances. A key initiative at the centre is the Bridge Course, which helps children gradually rebuild their confidence and prepare for formal education. Through structured learning, engaging activities, counselling, guidance, and life-skills support, children are given the opportunity to overcome learning gaps and prepare themselves for mainstream schooling.
Once they are ready, these children are supported in transitioning into regular schools, enabling them to continue their education and build a more secure future. When they arrive at BOSCO Mane, they carry more than a small bag of belongings. They often carry experiences of trauma, fear, uncertainty, and interrupted childhoods. At BOSCO Mane, they are given something equally important: safety, stability, care, and a second chance.
How You Can Help
Education is an important step towards helping these children rebuild their lives. But before a child can learn, grow, and dream about the future, their basic needs must be met. By supporting nutritious food for these children, you can contribute to creating a healthy and supportive environment where they can focus on learning, participate in the Bridge Course, and prepare to return to mainstream schools.
Your support can help a child experience something many of us take for granted: a safe childhood, a nourishing meal, a classroom, and the opportunity to dream again.
Support a child today. Help nourish their body, strengthen their confidence, and open the door to education.
